Voyage Through Music and Words

So you may remember my post about how a musician wanted to put music to my poem ‘Emotional Vampire‘.

This took place on 10th October 2021. It was pretty awesome for a number of reasons. So, when the musician Margin Alexander introduced my piece… he called me a “Very Modern Artist”… like wow ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. I felt very proud of myself for this. He then explained WHY I was an artist and said it was because he “started seeing live pictures, with minimal effort”. Apparently the title painted a clear image and as a composer he already began to think of music he could put to my words. Awesome ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿฝ

He also read my piece as a monologue which was really good because as a female, it was nice to hear a male read my words!

He once again reiterated that my poem was “Modern” and specified that it was “very direct, it doesn’t go around, it presses where it hurts and it gives the feeling of venting out and it being resolved partially meaning the pain was alleviated“. He also stated that the end line which is ‘Vampire be gone’ “It cadences into the state of liberation”.

Honestly, it’s so beautiful to hear such lovely words from another artist… yes… I feel like I can officially call myself one now ๐Ÿ˜† but all jokes aside it really does feel amazing being acknowledged.

I have to admit that all correspondence with myself and Margin and his manager Rita has been fantastic. Rita expressed Margin’s admiration for my writing prior to the event and she also expressed her own admiration after the event. They were great in offering a questionnaire about the piece and asked my opinion on how I envisioned the piece prior to Margin creating it.

Now to get the music, I absolutely adored the music ๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽต ๐ŸŽผ that Margin put to my art (yes I am definitely using this word) it was everything I envisioned and more. I absolutely fell in love with it.

I have included videos below for you, as well as the poem just incase you want to check it out.

I hope you enjoy it, just as much as I did, if not more ๐Ÿ˜€
